Personal digital devices should be left at home.

Acceptable Use of Technology

SVMS Acceptable Use of Technology Policy

(including phones, air pods/headphones, music players, etc.)

  • Students are encouraged to leave all of their personal digital devices and other expensive items at home.
  • We do not allow any music players, digital cameras, etc. on campus.
  • It is the responsibility of the student and parent for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.

  • Since inappropriate use of technology has been a problem, students need to follow some rules:
    • All personal digital devices (including cell phones and air pods/headphones) must be OFF and PUT AWAY once the student enters the front gate.
    • Students who are using their personal digital devices (including cell phones and air pods/headphones) on campus will have the devices confiscated by staff members.
    • If an item is confiscated, staff will take the digital device to the assistant principal’s office.  It will be placed inside an envelope with the date, student's name, staff member's name, and the reason it was confiscated.
If it was the first time that the digital device was confiscated, then a family member may pick it up from the front office at the end of the day.
If it was the second time that the digital device was confiscated, then the digital device stays in the assistant principal’s office until the end of the semester.
