Superintendent's Update - April 2023
Posted 5/9/23

Dear Hacienda La Puente Unified Community,

April was an incredibly successful month for Hacienda La Puente Unified, as our students and teachers received top honors for their hard work and were recognized through various Districtwide events and end-of-the-year celebrations.

During our New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) Spring Showcase, students, teachers and administrators from across the District came together to share the unique and creative ways that scholars have been exploring, learning and growing this school year.

We were also thrilled to host our annual Arts Showcase in-person after a three-year hiatus, where our students had the opportunity to speak about their inspiration, process and share their personal experiences through their artwork with the greater community.

I want to take a moment to thank all of our dedicated staff members who work behind the scenes to ensure the success of District events like the NPDL Spring Showcase and the District Art Show. It takes a village to orchestrate our events and we appreciate all you do.

Each month, we observe historical dates designed to educate our students on important issues and help build robust support systems within our community. In April, we participated in various community projects to celebrate Earth Day, wore denim in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and held an Autism Awareness and Acceptance Walk to support and raise awareness for autism.

We also showed our appreciation to our administrative professionals and bus drivers, surprising them with fun decorations and gifts to show gratitude for their essential contributions.

Thank you to our Board of Education, teachers, staff, administrators and community members for continually advocating for our students and the success of this District. I look forward to finishing the school year off strong and celebrating the successes of our students with you all throughout the next few weeks! As always, we are #ProudtobeHLPUSD.

Sincerely, Dr. Alfonso Jiménez
