To support our district parents during this challenging time, HLPAE’s Parent Education Workshop Team has created a new online workshop entitled “Parents Supporting Online Learners.” This workshop will be conducted through Zoom and will be split up into two parts – academic support (focusing on distance learning) and stress management. Academic support will provide parents with tips for engaging their children at home and creating a positive learning environment, directing participants to the HLPUSD website for more resources. Stress Management will focus on educating parents on how to deal with various stressors related to the “shelter in place” order and health concerns around COVID-19. The presentation will be conducted on Tuesday, April 21st with English at 1pm and Spanish at 2:30pm.

Parents can sign up by clicking one of the links below:

There will be a capacity of 150 participants for each language; however, we will repeat the workshops again if more than 150 parents sign up for a single class.

Please feel free to forward the related content of this email to your parents. Also, let me know if you would like us to mention any specific topics in the workshop or have any ideas for future distance learning workshops for your parents.

Stay tuned for more online workshops and resources for your parents!

Update on Digital Device Distribution (D3) Laptop and Wireless Hotspot Distribution (April 9, 2020):

Thank you for completing the D3 survey.  If you have already completed the D3 survey, you do not need to complete another survey.  Submitting multiple surveys can slow the distribution process.

The next distribution of laptops and a wireless hotspot (if requested) will be for D3 surveys completed between March 23 and April 3rd.

If you completed the survey, you will receive a School Messenger phone call with the date, time and location for you to pickup the laptop and wireless hotspot (if requested).   The latest HLPUSD COVID19 and Distance Learning info can be found at  or
